ANRC allotted new numbering resources for telephone services to Astral Telecom, Century Telecom, Conect Telecom, Orange Romania, RCS & RDS, Romatel, Telemax and Vocalpad Rom.

Astral Telecom was allocated, in addition to the previously granted resources, 10,000 numbers to be used for the provision of fixed telephone services in the county of Cluj. So far, this company has been granted 470,000 numbers for the provision of fixed telephone services.

The companies Conect Telecom and Century Telecom received blocks of 10,000 numbers for fixed telephone services in the counties of Bacau and, respectively, Galati, as well as 1,000 non-geographic numbers each, for services provided through prepaid cards (0Z=08 domain). Conect Telecom was allotted the one-step carrier selection code 1689, whereas Century Telecom was allotted the one-step carrier selection code 1690.

Orange Romania was granted the right to use one million new umbers for the provision of mobile telephone services. At present, this company benefits from 12 million numbers in the 0Z=07 domain.

RCS & RDS requested and received, in addition to the previously allocated resources, 170,000 numbers for the provision of fixed telephone services (in the 0Z=03 domain). This company has been granted, so far, 1,430,000 numbers for the provision of fixed telephone services.

Romatel was allotted 70,000 numbers for the provision of fixed telephone services, 1,000 numbers for services provided through green numbers and 1,000 numbers for services provided through prepaid cards, as well as the two-step carrier selection code - 1093 and the one-step selection code - 1693.

Telemax was granted the right to use 80,000 numbers for the provision of fixed telephone services and blocks of 1,000 numbers for services offered by means of green numbers and for telephone services through prepaid cards. The company will be able to use the two-step carrier selection code - 1092 and the one-step carrier selection code - 1692.

The company Vocalpad Rom was allotted 410,000 numbers for the provision of fixed telephone services (in the 0Z=03 domain), 1,000 numbers for services offered through prepaid cards and the two-step carrier selection code 1091.

In Romania, there are more than 13 million mobile telephony users and 4,390,805 million fixed telephony users. At the end of 2005, there were 74 active fixed telephony providers in the market, holding an approximately 10% market share. Five of the providers mentioned in the paragraphs above have been granted their first numbering resources and will begin the provision of telephone services in 2007.
