Session 1 - Opening Session – An informed user is a powerful user |
Keynote: Sorin Mihai GRINDEANU, ANCOM President – ANCOM’s mobile coverage Map Participants:
An informed user is a powerful user. In an increasingly interconnected world, relying on ever more innovative communications, striking a balance between promoting innovation among operators and protecting end-users is a permanent concern. In pursuit of this balance, regulators develop end-user information and education tools, for the users not only to get maximum benefits, but also to be satisfied with their communications. Although - according to ANCOM’s latest survey - 93% of the Romanians are content with the quality of their mobile communications, lack of signal or the poor quality of mobile coverage are the top reasons for discontent. Thus, ANCOM’s state-of-the-art mobile coverage map has been developed to meet a need of the Romanian end-users.  |

Session 2 - Accurate and reliable coverage maps for the stakeholders |
Keynote: Cristin POPA, Executive Director of Monitoring and Control Executive Division, ANCOM, Romania – how monitoring the spectrum translates into power for end-users  Participants:
Q&A Moderator: Mihai CONSTANTIN, journalist  Ensuring coverage of mobile networks and good quality of service are common goals of both regulators and operators. As a pivotal point within the electronic communications sector, regulators should provide highly-accessible independent and reliable information on the state of mobile coverage to all stakeholders involved: consumers, policy makers, national governments, industry and wider public. An easily accessible map of mobile coverage gives an overview of the development of the different electronic communication services provided over mobile networks. Greater transparency on the coverage provided by different operators can help promote competition between them when it comes to delivering better coverage and possibly future network investments.  |
