ANCOM statistics: three quarters of the fixed internet connections in Romania allow speeds over 100 Mbps

17.05.2020

“Good news from the telecom sector: by end-2019, three quarters of the 5.3 million fixed internet connections in Romania allowed very high data transfer speeds, exceeding 100 Mbps. This was alsofelt - during the state of emergency that we have just been through, when the fixed internet networks in Romania, which are mainly based on fiber-optic infrastructure, were up to the challenge and met the high traffic demand. Never in history have electronic communications networks been so heavily relied on to keep our society working, to fulfil our social, educational, economic or other needs, as in these last two months. Today, we celebrate the World Telecommunication Day, so we take this opportunity to thank those who made this breakthrough possible and congratulate them for being up to the challenges over time” declared ANCOM’s President, Sorin GRINDEANU, on the occasion of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, celebrated every year on 17 May.
