Netograf.ro: Decrease in the number of complaints registered by internet access service providers

In 2021, the number of complaints registered by the main providers of internet access services, both fixed and mobile, decreased in the context in which the number of security incidents registered in the telecom sector last year also dropped. The valid tests performed last year by means of the Netograf apps indicate that the internet average download speeds have increased.

Frequency of the number of complaints

The number of complaints registered in 2021 per one thousand active connections for the main providers of fixed internet access services decreased, ranging between 67 and 384 complaints per provider. Furthermore, in the case of the mobile internet access services, the number of complaints registered per one thousand active connections also registered decreases and ranges between 2 and 19 complaints.

     

 

National average download and upload speeds – fixed internet

The tests performed by the users on the Netograf platform show that in 2021 the average download speed at national level for fixed internet rose by almost 40% compared to 2020, up to 259.8 Mbps, while the average upload speed grew by approximately 60%, to 179.1 Mbps.

          

The data registered through the Netograf platform regarding the transmission speeds match the general trend resulted from the statistical data reported by the electronic communications providers which indicate a y.o.y. 15% increase of the number of  fixed very high speed (at least 100Mbps) connections.

Statistics per counties

The average download speed for the fixed internet connections varies from one county to another, ranging between 65.1 Mbps (Mehedinți) and 249.6 Mbps (Harghita). As for mobile internet connections, their average download speed varies from 15.7 Mbps (Vâlcea) to 56.4 Mbps (Vrancea).

The average upload speed for fixed internet connections ranges between 51 Mbps (Sălaj) and 181.2 Mbps (Harghita), and that for mobile internet between 5.5 Mbps (Buzău) and 16.2 Mbps (Vrancea).

The results of the tests performed by the users on Netograf show an average download speed at national level for mobile internet of 30.3 Mbps, on the rise by 25% from the previous year, respectively an average upload speed of 10.6 Mbps for mobile internet in 2021, remaining steady compared to 2020.

           

ANCOM Report

The ANCOM Report on the quality of the internet access service in 2021 was drawn up based on 187,497 valid tests made on the Netograf apps. The Report is available for consultation (in Romanian) here.

Along with the download and upload speeds, ANCOM’s Report makes available information on the packet transfer delay and jitter for both fixed and mobile internet access providers, statistics by county regarding the number of tests performed, average download and upload speeds and average delays, as well as information on the internet access service activation term, fault repair time, frequency of end-users’ complaints and the complaint handling term.
