Back to the Future: the Romanian Telecoms in the Next Decade
On 6 November 2012, the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) organises its annual international conference, under the heading “Back to the Future: the Romanian Telecoms in the Next Decade”, on 6 November 2012, at Radisson Blu Hotel in Bucharest, Romania.
This year, ANCOM celebrates 10 years since its establishment as an independent regulatory authority. In the context of market liberalisation and transposition of the European regulatory framework, the authority has systematically and consistently promoted competition to the benefit of the end-users, while stimulating efficient investments in infrastructures, through several rounds of market analyses and imposition of proportionate remedies, tariff regulation of key services for the competitive development of the markets, designation of universal service providers, as well as through symmetrical measures such as number portability, the closing of the national numbering plan and the adoption of measures meant to ensure the appropriate information and protection of the end-users.
The conference is intended as a meeting point for the future and the past of the Romanian telecoms in a European context, where the participants share their experiences and discuss their success stories, views and visions for the next decade.
