The NAtional Regulatory Authority for Communications AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OF ROMANIA (ANRCTI) is the independent regulatory body for the Romanian electronic communications – including the frequencies spectrum and the radio and terminal equipment –, information technology and postal services sectors.

ANRCTI’s essential objectives are to promote competition, encourage efficient investments in the infrastructure and protect end-users’ rights and interests, such as the right to privacy and access to the Universal Service. ANRCTI considers that only a healthy competitive environment, which gives all competitors balanced chances to succeed, can offer to all market players real incentives to efficiently invest and can satisfy the fundamental interests of users.
The principles governing the activity of ANRCTI are transparency, impartiality, predictability, proportionality, flexibility and effective use of resources. By means of a regulatory process which is consistent with the European rules and best practice, ANRCTI contributes to the development of the internal market of the European Community and aims at stimulating and maintaining the confidence of investors and of the public in the functioning of this market.
