Public consultation on licence-free bands

23.07.2015

The Romanian National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) launched for public consultation a draft decision identifying several frequency bands that could be used ”freely” – without a prior licence issuance procedure  –, in which a series of radio equipment operate.

Such equipment includes transmitter-receiver stations used in vehicles, alarms, door opening devices, medical implants, cordless (DECT) telephone sets, automotive short-range radar systems or various radio equipment installed on board of aircraft or on road and railway vehicles.
Although such equipment may be used in the licence-free bands, the users must observe the technical regulations in force, in order to avoid the risk of producing harmful interference on other services. Moreover, the use of this equipment does not benefit from radio protection, may the interferences be produced by similar users or by radiocommunications stations functioning in accordance with the regulations in force.
At the moment of its entry into force, this regulation will repeal ANCOM’s decision no. 1722/2011 on the radio frequencies or the radio frequency bands excepted from the licencing regime.
The draft decision regarding licence-free radio frequencies or radio frequency bands is available, in Romanian, here. The interested persons are invited to send their comments and suggestions, by 21 August 2015, to the ANCOM headquarters (2 Delea Nouă Street, Bucharest 3), or directly to the ANCOM Registry Office. Comments may also be sent by fax to +40.372.845.402 or by e-mail to consultare@ancom.org.ro.
