In 1996, he was elected in the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament as a representative of the Armenian community (the In 2000, Varujan Pambuccian established the Commission for Information Technology and Communications of the Chamber of Deputies. He has been the president of this Commission for 5 years. Between 2000 and 2004, he played a key role in adopting the legislation regarding universal service and the establishment of the National Regulatory Authority for Communications, for the purpose of liberalising the Romanian communications and implementing universal service. He introduced the phrase „technological research” in the Romanian Constitution, while during the current mandate he is committed to introducing new projects in the Parliament on enhancing digital literacy, democratisation of access to technology, the digital divide, de-materialisation of the public administration documents, neighbourhood networks, broadband communications. He has been awarded excellence prizes by prestigious magazines in the field of communications and information technology, in recognition of his contribution to the development of the IT&C sector in |
